A football collectibles game born from the passion surrounding the sport in Brazil and around the world — bringing together players, clubs and memorable moments in a digital card experience.

So... What is this exactly?

Basically, an NTF(ew) football manager and collectible card game.

The project started in 2021 at Campus.Studio, the game development studio I co-founded. We had the opportunity to build a football game based on real players from some of Brazil's biggest clubs.

We were a small three-person design team, which meant working across many different areas — from art direction and UI/UX to 3D, animation and game development.

It became one of the most ambitious projects we had worked on, and a huge learning experience across design, production and the world of football.

We partnered with some of Brazil's biggest football clubs, allowing us to feature real teams and players in the game.

PROCESS

One of our biggest challenges was building a system capable of generating a large number of unique players while keeping the game lightweight enough to run on mobile.

We developed a modular character pipeline in Blender, combining different heads, hairstyles, facial features, uniforms and accessories. Scripts and procedural tools allowed us to generate variations while keeping the visual language consistent across the game.
Some layering for the card we had to come up so it worked fine in a mobile game without losing performace

First 3d concept of the players, maybe you can recognize Di Maria...

    THEN EVERYTHING CHANGED...

Later in the project, we started collaborating with Hardcuore, which led to a complete evolution of Futster's visual identity.

Together, we developed a new logo and redesigned key parts of the experience — including the home screen, albums, character layouts and booster packs.

The project gradually became more cohesive, polished and ambitious.

We faced new challanges such as:

    • Mobile performance for 3D assets
    • Procedural character variation
    • Different teams, uniforms, badges and items
    • Parallax effects inside the cards
    • Multiple card formats and rarities
    • Character customization and animation

Futster was even featured at Maracanã, one of the world's most iconic football stadiums.

A huge thanks to everyone involved. It was a very special time!
