“We are the Prisma Game Lab (initial RPG- Rio Puc Games), a team dedicated to the development of digital and analog games created and managed by students at PUC-Rio University. Our focus is to bring together people interested in improving their technical and social skills in order to train good professionals, bringing a spectrum of possibilities for their futures. ”
Get to know Prisma Game Lab!
I was one of the founding members, started the journey in 2017, with just 8 people, nowadays the group has more than 40 participants and more than 30 games produced. Involving students from all courses, it was created focusing on learning game development, something that we missed at our university.
We have progressed not only as a game developer but also working in the field of education. Several lectures, workshops were given, presentations at events with GameXP and games participating in events such as Rock in Rio
Acting as a lead in art I decided to present some of the games that I participated during my journey at Prisma, from 2017 to 2020.
In Quarins, the world is populated by several tribes of mystical beings of the same name. They depend on an essence absorbed from their land, and to maintain it, they need to expand the environment. However, a Quarin must not come into contact with an essence other than its own, or it will lose its body. Controlling a Quarin each, players must move around the map, using their magic on the ground to eliminate opponents who pass over their terrain. Conquer the mountain by attacking the altars left by your old Quarins in Domination mode or try to be the last remaining in the arena in Survival mode!
Lab de Games was held for several years by Prisma Game Lab in partnership with the Núcleo de Estudo e Ação sobre o Menor (NEAM), with the aim of sharing the experience of developing a game for a few hours with young people from public schools and NEAM . As part of the dynamic, we help them create a game in 5 hours using parts of a project previously developed by the team. In addition, they are introduced to the different areas and professions that work in these mega productions. The 2nd edition took place on Saturday (11/11/2017) and three games were produced by the young participants. I was responsible for giving an animation class and how to use the Piskel software, for the production of the games.
Feasting on high 90s computational nostalgia and reflective waves, ChromaDeflekter3000 is a bath of color, almost literally. In this shoot'em up, you control Mac, a prodigious hacker who is trying to hack a computer from two decades ago. It will need to pass through layers of security, and its only protection against the defenses of this system is to reflect the cyber waves that antiviruses fire at you.
Second Game Jam (Global Game Jam 2017) that I participated with the team, whose theme was "Waves". I participated in the design of the project and the mechanics developed as well as their implementation.
A harmless gum is thrown into the vast ocean. It begins to aggregate all the garbage it finds in its path, gaining gigantic proportions. This is where we ask ourselves: Is mankind able to unite and solve this crisis? Catch the garbage, pay attention to the news, witness the clash between humanity and pollution and don't forget to admire the beautiful blue sea - while you can!
The theme was inspired by the UN 2030 agenda, in which each team played a game that brought a concern or objective to the agenda
